What makes it special?

Blagoevgrad pairs a lively pedestrian centre and youthful café culture with Revival-era Varosha, riverside parks and easy access to the mountains of Bulgaria's southwest.

Two universities give the city a young rhythm, while the old quarter and regional museum keep the story of the Struma valley visible. It works well as an urban base before Rila Monastery, Bansko, Melnik or the hot springs around Simitli and Sandanski.
