What makes it special?

Pleven's identity is inseparable from the 1877 siege, interpreted through monuments and the panoramic museum, but the city also offers major regional collections, lively squares and the remarkable Kaylaka landscape park.

Military memory is presented on an unusually large urban scale. Beyond it, Pleven is a cultural and university centre in the Danube plain, with wine traditions and a long green corridor extending south into Kaylaka.
