What makes it special?

Gabrovo stretches along the Yantra beneath the Balkan Mountains, mixing a celebrated culture of humour with industrial history, contemporary museums and the living crafts of nearby Etar.

Self-irony is part of the city's public identity, but Gabrovo is equally important as a centre of manufacturing, education and mountain craftsmanship. The museums explain both stories with unusual energy.
